Social Networking for the Wedding

So I’m a Facebook fanatic. I even met my hubby thru an App using Facebook. So it only seems natural that I would use Facebook and other online resources to help plan our wedding.

As stated in my previous posts, I created a few online profiles on wedding blogs to connect with other brides.  Sort of like a support system for us all in the DIY wedding trenches. However, you can also get some pretty good referrals thru brides. Some vendors even advertise on wedding blogs for brides. There are even sites where you can find local vendors for a variety of services both wedding and non-wedding related. and are two that helped me out a great deal. Wedding Wire is a network for vendors and brides alike. You can connect with other brides and share ideas. Vendors can also do the same. You get to see their reviews and ratings. Thumbtack has a variety of vendors for all kinds of services, not just weddings. You put in a request for any kind of service and vendors give you an online quote for that service. That’s how I found our wedding photographer. After our budget crunch wouldn’t allow me to spend $2,000 on a photographer and a friend had another engagement to photograph, I looked high and low trying to find a good photographer at an affordable price. We met with Sarah Dial of Dial Photography and instantly knew she was the one. We made an excellent choice! I get compliments on our wedding photographs all the time.

However,  networking extends far beyond direct contact with the wedding. I have become friends with almost all of our wedding vendors on Facebook. It allowed me to get an inside look into their work and be a little more personal, which I like. It has also opened doors to other opportunities professionally. Remember, it’s all about who you know!

Just this past Sunday I had the pleasure of debuting several of my bouquets as props in a portfolio-building, bridal photo session with over a dozen local photographers – all because I kept in touch with our wedding photographer, Sarah. Here’s a preview of some of the amazing photographs that were taken. When I get them all in, I’ll be sure to add them to the gallery.

Please note that each photographers copyright is on their respective photo.
